Rocks+SGE

Rocks+SGE users can leverage the SGE Roll (Rocks+ licenses procured from Clustercorp, SGE support procured separately) for tight integration between Rocks+ and SGE. Grid Engine is a Distributed Resource Management (DRM) software. DRM software aggregates compute power and delivers it as a network service. Grid Engine software is used with a set of computers to create powerful compute farms, which are used in a wide range of technical computing applications such as the development of semiconductors, bioinformatics, mechanical design, software development, oil/gas exploration, and financial analysis; additionally, massively scaling supercomputers use Grid Engine software in a variety of academic and research pursuits.

Compute resources in a typical data center have utilization rates that are on average 10%-25%. By installing and using the Grid Engine software, it is possible to achieve resource utilization upwards of 80%, 90% or even 95%. This increase in utilization comes from the intelligent distribution of workload to the most appropriate available resources. Additional features like advance reservation and resource quota sets give users and administrators the ability to make the most of their compute resources.

The Intel Cluster Ready program and technology package makes it easier to design, build, sell, program, acquire, and deploy clusters built with Intel components.
